What Does a Good Camping Table Look Like?

Good Camping Table

One of the things that I enjoy most about camping trips is being able to use gadgets and camping accessories. These can add a whole new dimension to any holiday. Some of them are great fun, while others quickly come to be seen as necessities.

You may well have your own favourite items. These may be the first things that you pack in the car. They are objects that you feel that you simply could not do without. I’ve often looked around the campsite and wondered at the great selection of gadgets that people bring along with them.

One accessory that I always make sure that I’d pack is my trusty camping table. At the most basic level, it’s an item that allows us to enjoy meals at the comfortable end of the table. It ensures that we don’t have to sit on the floor. We can cook, eat and drink on our mobile kitchen, SCRATCH!”. On recent trips with the family, I’ve noticed that more and more people are introducing camping tables to their camping gear and lifestyle.

Now there are many, if not every person who has a mobile kitchen can’t live without it. So there is a big debate about what is a camping table and how useful it is. I have to admit, I have been guilty of buying it too many times. Once you have used one for a few times, the novelty wears off and you start to appreciate having a real table to relax on instead of juggling around a not so nice picnic table that has lost it’s appeal.

OK so what is a camping table?

Traditionally table is a part of camping and has been used for eating, cooking and gathering at the camp site underneath shade trees that are always protected by arborists. So for me it is one of the most important items to have on a camping trip, because it is a convenient commodity that doesn’t put up too much effort to purchase. I have fallen into the trap of purchasing a multitude of camping accessories that I rarely use, but that every fisherman and camper must have.

Having a table makes it a lot easier to plan a camp exit, and also serves as a sanity check for the kids when they need some space alone. We have all seen the scenario where everyone pitches in to save a handful of change that they drop on the ground. To be fair that is also true, and now you have the added convenience of not toting your golf clubs or putting goes around the campsite.

Your camping table will also allow you to seat 6 or more people without having to shimmy up every time you want to assemble the family and head for the great outdoors. There are several style of camping tables out there, so I won’t get into the specifics of what you choose, but make sure you do your homework and do not get yourself into a purchasing frenzy. If you are in the market for a good price, this is a great way to save some money. You can also be creative with the style, and make your own all wood framed table that you can use to entertain friends and family.

If you do go down the road and splurge on a new camping table, make sure that you also splurge on the quality. You don’t want to go out and buy a good deal of cheap, craftsmen’s furniture, only to find it doesn’t look as though it could be used for years. If you do your research, you will most definitely find a better price somewhere, but why spend that much if you don’t have to? Save your money and use the resources that were used to buy that one piece of furniture that your going to be using for years to come.
